  • Confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to this Policy;
  • Agree to use the Site in a fair, lawful, and equitable manner;

  • Engage us for tax preparation, planning, representation, bookkeeping, or advisory services (“Services”).

This can include:

  • Identifying information: name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, phone number;
  • Government identifiers (where needed for tax work): SSN, ITIN, EIN, driver’s license or similar ID;
  • Tax and financial data: W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, brokerage statements, retirement information, prior returns, income and deduction details, credits, business records, and related information;
  • Business information: entity names, ownership details, EINs, bookkeeping and payroll data; and
  • Communications: emails, messages, intake forms, and notes from calls or meetings.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information may be collected automatically, such as:

  • IP address and approximate location;
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system;
  • Pages visited on the Site and time spent on them;
  • Referring URLs (how you arrived at the Site); and
  • Date and time of your visit.

3.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Help the Site function properly and securely;
  • Remember certain preferences; and
  • Understand how visitors interact with the Site in aggregate.

By clicking “OK,” “Accept,” or similar on any cookie banner, you consent to our use of cookies and to this Policy. You can often control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how the Site functions.

3.4 Information from Third Parties

We may receive limited information from third parties, such as:

  • Scheduling tools (e.g., Calendly) when you book a call;
  • Payment processors when you pay an invoice;
  • Secure portals or file-sharing platforms you use to send documents; and
  • Government or public sources (e.g., IRS transcripts with your authorization, Secretary of State records).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and manage our Services, including tax preparation, planning, representation, bookkeeping, and advisory work;
  • Communicate with you about your engagement, questions, appointments, and documents;
  • Verify identity and protect against fraud or unauthorized access;
  • Maintain records, including copies of returns, correspondence, and workpapers;
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our internal systems;
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and professional obligations; and
  • Protect our rights, property, and the rights and safety of others.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. How We Share Your Information

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

5.1 Service Providers

With trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the firm and deliver Services (e.g., secure portals, document storage providers, IT/cybersecurity, payment processors, scheduling and communication tools). These parties are expected to protect the information they receive.

5.2 Tax Authorities and Government Agencies

With the IRS, state or local tax authorities, and other government agencies as necessary when we prepare and file returns or respond to notices at your direction.

5.3 Professional Advisors and Compliance

With our professional advisors (e.g., legal counsel, insurance carriers, consultants) and any oversight or regulatory bodies, as appropriate.

5.4 Legal Requirements and Protection

When required or allowed by law, such as to comply with legal process or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our firm, our clients, or others.

5.5 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of the business assets, subject to confidentiality and professional obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own independent marketing.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to protect your information, such as secure portals, access controls, and authentication for sensitive systems. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your own devices and accounts secure, including using strong passwords and not sharing login details.

7. Data Retention

We retain information as long as necessary to provide Services, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, maintain records for potential IRS or state inquiries, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Because tax matters can be reviewed years later, certain records may be kept for extended periods consistent with professional standards and our internal policies.

8. Your Choices

Subject to legal and professional obligations, you may:

  • Request that we correct or update certain information if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Request clarification about how we use your information; and
  • Adjust some communication preferences (for example, reduce non-essential updates).

Because we are a tax and advisory firm, some records cannot be deleted or altered if we are legally required to keep them. To make a request, contact us at [email protected].

9. No Legal, Tax, or Financial Advice; No Client Relationship

The content on this Site — including articles, guides, examples, case studies, and any other information — is for general educational purposes only.

  • It is not legal, tax, financial, or investment advice.
  • It is not specific to your situation and may not reflect the most current law or guidance.
  • It should not be relied upon to make decisions without consulting a qualified professional.

Viewing or using this Site, sending us a message, or booking a time through an online tool does not by itself create a tax professional–client relationship or engagement with The Tax Lyfe or with Umair Nazir, EA. A formal engagement begins only after:

  • We accept you as a client, and
  • We both agree to specific terms in writing (for example, an engagement letter or services agreement).

10. Website Use, Fair Use, and Prohibited Conduct

By using this Site, you agree to use it in a fair, equitable, and lawful manner. You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Site for any fraudulent, illegal, or harmful purpose;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems, data, or accounts;
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy content in a way that violates applicable law or our rights;
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Site.

11. Scheduling Tools, Calendly, and Availability

For your convenience, the Site may use online scheduling tools, such as Calendly, to allow you to request or book a time for a call or meeting.

  • These tools may pull from multiple calendars and may not always reflect our full or exact availability in real time.
  • Any time slot you book through Calendly or a similar tool is a request for an appointment, not an absolute guarantee of availability.
  • If there is a conflict, overlap, or scheduling issue, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you by email, phone, or text to arrange the next available suitable time.

We are not responsible for any loss, cost, or inconvenience arising from inaccurate or outdated availability displayed by third-party scheduling tools.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Tax Lyfe, Umair Nazir, EA, and our employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Site;
  • Any reliance you place on information made available through the Site;
  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in Site content;
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our systems that is not due to our gross negligence or willful misconduct;
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Site.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

By accessing or using this Site, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Tax Lyfe, Umair Nazir, EA, and our employees, contractors, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use or misuse of the Site;
  • Your violation of this Policy or of any applicable law or regulation;
  • Your reliance on information obtained from the Site without consulting a qualified professional; or
  • Your infringement or alleged infringement of any third-party rights in connection with your use of the Site.

This indemnification obligation applies to you and any person using your devices or accounts to access the Site.

14. Children’s Privacy

The Site and our online content are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us with information without consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

15. Third-Party Websites and Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. These are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of those third parties. We encourage you to review their terms and privacy policies separately.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update or modify this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. The updated Policy becomes effective when posted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
